Big Sandwash Reservoir is located in the Uinta Basin north of Roosevelt and Duchesne. This Northeastern Utah reservoir was recently drained for repairs to the dam and boat ramp. Construction is complete now, so it will be filled slowly to help it settle in properly. The Division plans to stock fish (catchables and fingerlings) beginning sometime in late May 2006.
The shoreline is 98% privately owned, with the state only owning a small segment of shoreline at the boat ramp. The water is used for irrigation, so water levels can fluctuate significantly especially in late summer.
